How to repair a "break" in rubber?
Any ideas as to adhering rubber (transparent rubber/silicone based)? onto itself? I have a very rare, HTF toy that has been broken. The piece that is rubber has torn and I am looking for some kind of product that will allow me to mold it back on to itself where the break is. We tried glue, rubber cement, and some other hobby glue type agent, and nothing is bonding the break.
Any suggestions for any rubber or silicone based products I can use to actually fill in where the break is that will "become" or bond to the orig. rubber/silicone piece? I've seen some products to make rubber or silicone based rubber molds, but I'm not sure if I could actually just mix it and apply to an existing rubber piece for it to bond to vs. putting something in it to make a mold.
Ask you pharmacist to order naphtha for you. Pour a little into the previously widened crack and allow to evaporate then close the crack. The naphtha will dissolve the rubber, weld the two sides and make the crack whole again. It is how tire companies weld the various rubber parts of the treads together.
